The original image is a Nazi M35 helmet with no decals. The Nazi helmet was a symbol of terror and persecution throughout the world. It symbolized one of the most corrupt, brutal and cruel regimes that ever existed. The Nazi war machine engulfed the world in an earth shattering blitzkrieg that resulted in laying waste to an entire continent. By the end of World War II more than fifty million people had died in the worlds worst catastrophe.

My reproduced image is the Nazi M35 helmet turned upside down to serve as a soup bowl for chicken noodle soup. Chicken noodle soup is thought to provide comfort and support especially when you are not feeling well. Soup is considered nourishing and calming. These feelings are in sharp contrast to the emotions felt at the sight of the helmet.

  1. I think this is a very good ironic repurposed image. Although the helmet in reality could hold the comforting soup, it would not be received well from the person in need of the nourishment.

  5. I really like the contrast in your image. I like how the soup provides comfort in a threatening helmet.

  7. Very creative idea. The helmet transforms its meaning from evil to good when filled with soup.
